It took me almost as long to take these photos as it did to make the set yesterday as it was so dull again. I tried in the afternoon then I tried at night with these stupid low energy bulbs even the daylight bulb in my den made them look awful. So apologies again for more naff piccies but I had to do them yesterday as I'm taking the set to work for someone's birthday pressie today.
I did another post about this little bag with more details and a link to instructions HERE. It is made from one sheet of 12"x12" paper. I made my first folds half an inch rather than an inch to make the bag slightly taller I did say in that post that it fits a 5"x5" card but the envies dont fit so it's no good for set but ok as a gift bag with a 5" card and no envie, confused yet? HERE is another link then .
The little note cards are 4"x4". I made 2 of each design and put some envelopes and a little fancy pen with them. For the handles I like to stick some ribbon to strips of card. They need each other, lol. the card for a bit of stiffness and the ribbon for strength. I did the wording on the computer. I learned from Docrafts that if you do each word separately before adding to the page you can use different fonts and move them around , marvellous, there'll be no stopping me now! This is for an 84th birthday for a young lady who likes to frequent the pub opposite the shop i work at. She's about 4ft tall and is Scottish. I call her super gran, lol, she's got one of those hairstyles where they wind long wispy hair around their hand and pin it at he back of the head willy nilly, she makes me titter.
Well I'd best get a move on while I've still got a job to go to. Love Di.xx
Target weight 9st 2lb, today's weight 9st 1lb. 1lb heavier than last week. The result of lots of lovely scrumpy on Wednesday.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you find plenty of inspiration here. Nothing too fancy, no great skills required, just lots of cards, gifts and perhaps the odd bit of shopping.
My blog contains lots of links to freebies. Without sounding like "mother" can I ask you to leave a kind comment to the generous givers of such fabulous artwork. I know of at least a couple of artists who are feeling a bit unloved at the moment. Thanks. X

Happy Birthday to................
..........Me! Yep, the old biddy is 52 today, even deafer and blinder than yesterday, but another day wiser (treadmill lol). In true Speed fashion we'll be starting with the smoked salmon and champagne brunch. Then out for a bit of boozing late this afternoon followed by a help yourself Chinese buffet in town. It's race day in Chester today so we'll have to find the pubs that aren't full of punters in frocks (and that's just the men lol). I've got some stash from my sis and lots of stash money to spend. I did a bit of crafting yesterday as I don't think I'll be doing any tomorrow with the shaky hands!
I didn't make this for anyone particular but to satisfy my obsession with making boxes and notecards. The musical card is from Payper box and the peel offs were leftovers from making wedding invites.
The little cards are only 4"x4". I just love making them, they don't need much "filling up". Well that's all from me today apart from.................
..........The Friday weigh in!! Are you ready for this.....9st 6lb, 2lb off after scoffing for Queen and country last weekend!! That's 10lb in total. There is a really funny reason for this, if you didn't read my last post scroll down and get ready to wet yourself.

Notecard gift bag tutorial.
I've just spent ages looking for a tutorial for this little bag on the net but couldn't find one the same so I've thrown a few photos together.
You'll need a piece of card 71/2" x 101/2" to fit 4"x4" note cards. If you're going to alter the size learn from me and measure the envelopes, not the cards!
Place card in landscape position and score at 41/2" and 6".
Turn and score at 11/2" and 6". Fold all score lines.
Glue A to B on both sides as shown , then glue C to A.
Easy peasy! now you can decorate your bag, if you're going to do lots of matting etc it's easier to do it before gluing while it's still flat.
I've used grossgrain ribbon for the handles as it's slightly stiffer than ordinary ribbon. the stamp is by Inkadinkado. I cut my own 4"x4" cards and get the envies from the papermill shop.
For more inspiration check out the SCS gallery here. There is a link to how to make the flower under "tutorials" in my sidebar.

Fallin' in love again..............
Yesterday i showed you some cards made from peel offs and scraps. Well today i've got something made from the scraps left over from the scraps!! And do you know what? I'm in love with peel offs again!! I don't know how long for though, it's almost like having another try with your ex, renewed enthusiasm at first, then back to the "ugh just go away"! Anyway, take a look at these then go and and dig out your exes.
I made yesterday's cards and these 4"x4" cards out of 2 sheets of peel offs and managed to make a box to put them in.I must admit i've got a thing about making little notecard sets and i really enjoyed making these.I hate to say it but i may even buy a couple more sheets of this design.
I've also got something else to show you. I won some blog candy from Gay at Dippy Doodles and it arrived yesterday apart from cardmaking goodies she also sent me a bookmark and a bag charm/keyring which she's made.
They are really beautiful. If anyone would like some she has some for sale here. Thank you very much Gay.
Oh, i nearly forgot. It's the friday weigh in. By some miracle i weighed 9st 11lb this morning! thats another pound off making it 5 altogether. I really don't know how i managed it because i was very naughty at the weekend.

Little gift set.
Morning everyone. A bit dull today, looks like there may be rain later. Still it is bank holiday weekend. It's race week next week here in Chester and the weather's always a bit iffy. The women will have bought their strappy frocks when we had that nice warm week and they'll still insist on wearing them no matter what the weather is like. You see some sights i tell ya!!
This little gift set cost me about 60p to make.
I bought some packs of habico card at Abakhan . They were 55p for 6 A4 sheets. The notecards were made from some 5x7 cards which I cut in half to fit some C7 envies from the papermill shop.
The image stamp is Penny Black and the message is from a Clare Curd clear set. The circle punches are EK Success. The colouring is done with promarkers as always.
There have been 2 pigeons canoodling in my window box for a couple of weeks. Last year we had a nest and a couple of chicks, i wonder if it's the same pair? Anyone wondering why i haven't removed the window box? I live 3 floors up and the window has been painted shut from the outside! So if anyone is wondering what a baby pigeon looks like I may have a photo by early June.
It must be time to wake the sleeping beauty with a cuppa. Bye for now. DI.x

Chuckie chickens.
Morning all, what's it going to do today then? Speedy is taking me to Holt (near Wrexham a short drive away) later on. There is one of those pick you own fruit farms there and although there won't be anything ready to pick yet there is also a big garden centre. They sell alsorts of gifty things, different to the usual garden centre stuff and there is also a big farm shop. The reason i'm getting this rare treat is because we need to get the mother in law a birthday pressie. My stepson is getting wed in september and i'm doing the invites and the flowers. There are some really gorgeous silk flowers in this shop so i'll be able to weigh them up too.
Todays little morsel is a notelet set i made with the little wooden embelishments i bought last week.
I photographed these on thursday and try as i might, i couldn't get a decent photo, just like my last set. The chickens and gems are by Crafting For occasions ,( usually on twirly stands). The little cards are 4"x4" hessian look.
I'm not 100% sure what the sentiment stamp is because it's not in it's original packaging but i think it could be a Hero Arts clear set. Look under notecards in my "labels" to see more sets.

Summer love.
My sister bought me a little packet of wooden hearts for christmas and they've been sitting around in my drawer waiting for the brain to kick in.I found them last night when i was looking for something else and i thought "tonight's the night"! I abandoned what i was doing and made these little notecards before the idea left my head.
The little cards are 4"x4" made with hessian look card again. Then i needed something to package them in .I wasn't in a box making mood so i put them in a cello bag and made a matching topper. The "love" stamp was in a set of 6 from Lakeland about 2 years ago.
Well there's another little pressie for in my emergency stash. Thanks for looking. Di. xx P.S The hearts were from Hobbycraft.

Hi there! More Notecards.
First of all let me tell you what fun i had at my local yesterday afternoon.I always go straight from work with Speedy for a bit of liquid refreshment. Yesterday i took a bag of these little pouches and as people nipped to the loo i snook one onto their table.
It was such a hoot watching them when they came back. They'd pick it up, scrutinise it, look all around the pub then say to the nearest person "where did this come from"? Of course no one knew, i'm too sneaky. So they'd put it down again sligtly to one side, then a few minutes later they'd pick it up again and look around. It was only when they were about to leave that i put them out of their misery. Fo more info on making them see here.
I had a couple of hours playtime this morning while speedy was watching the grand prix so i made this little notecard set.
I love making these as they are very quick and are handy to have in for little thank yous or emergency gifts. The stripy paper is from my scrap box, i only just had enough to finish the inside flaps. The stamp is from the penny black 12 days of christmas clear set.
There is a bit more info on making them here.
Thanks for visiting, make sure you take your little gift below. Di.x

More notecards.
Yesterday i was toying with the idea of nipping to Hobbycraft (just to have a look you understand),but I managed to resist and decided to go to Abakhan instead. It's only a short walk fom home and far less dangerous as they don't have much card stash, mainly ribbon and a few embellies etc. So there i was mooching around with a couple of spools of ribbon in my hand and i spotted a few clear stamp sets plonked in a pile on a shelf in true Abakhan style. They weren't much cop except for three Kanban sets.Up to now i've always associated Kanban with "topper" style kits on shopping channels. I bought this one and another one which i'll show you another time. I made another quickie notelet set but my big mistake was to stamp my tree in olive green.I have absolutely NO paper or card in olive green so i spent ages trawling through my stash and ended up with dark red.Next time i think i'll do the trees in grey to give me more scope.Ichalked the edges of the images,2 in green and the other 2 in dark red.Now.....,i wonder how long i'll be able to resist that third set of stamps........Hmmmm.....

More Elzybels!
I do have lots more stamps, honest, i just love these little Elzybels animals so much.I coloured this set with my promarkers. I don't bother with shading with quickie cards and notelets, flat colouring is fine for these. In fact,( height of laziness) if i was giving this to a little girl for a pressie i'd just colour the one on the cover and let her do the others herself. I may even include a few pencils if she was lucky! The wallet is made from a 5"x7" card.I trimmed a little bit off the bottom and folded it up on the inside to make it 5" square. It's best to cut the inside flaps at an angle as in the pic so it shuts easily, then secure just the outer edges with double sided tape. The little cards are 4"x4".
Well that's me for today i'm off to do some food shopping and when i get back there'd best be at least 50 comments!!!..... If only! Di.xxx
PS. This technophobe is going to have to figure out how to put photos in between the text, that'll be my next mission.

Mini notecards
I love making cards but I love making boxes even more. They are very quick and easy to make and they turn a few simple cards into a gift. I use a scorepal which makes them a doddle. I don't know how to post links yet but I get most of my box/bag instructions from the resources page at Splitcoast Stampers. Here are a couple of sets I've made. The cat stamp is by Incastamps and i found it on Monday in WHS bargain bit for £2. The hedgie is a penny black stamp. Well, that's me for now, I've got to go to the dreaded Tesco (which is not far from WHS) ....now there's a thought.... Tata for now Di xx.
